Increase And Retain High Productivity

Like all jobs, recruiting can be exhausting and it can be difficult to keep up your pace when you are struggling to find top candidates for your positions. Although everyone likes to think there is a singular perfect guide when it comes to success through productivity, let’s face it—there isn’t one. While it takes a lot of extra work to pay attention to your productivity levels while still doing a great job at your regular tasks, it will yield better results in the long run. With that being said, here are a few great tips to increase and retain high productivity in your recruiting job.

Create lists.  Lists don’t work for everyone, but they are a great way to keep organized and make sure that you go through all of your tasks on a given day without forgetting any of them. With so many great list-keeping methods like TeuxDeux (to-do app) and Trello (task management app), it’s easy to find a system that works for you that will make your productivity sky rocket!

Leave multitasking to the dogs. Okay, so dogs don’t multitask and you shouldn’t either. New research says that, while multitasking may create the illusion that you’ve accomplished a lot, Kendra Cherry, author of Everything Psychology Book says it can “reduce productivity by approximately 40-percent,” adding that “switching from one task to another makes it difficult to tune out distractions and can cause mental blocks that can slow down your progress.” 

Deadlines are your friend. To be more speficic, realistic deadlines are your friend — and they help others, too. By setting a date you stay connected and are cognizant of the work that you still have to do, and you will likely have also built a working plan for how the task will play out. This creates calmer and the satisfying feeling that comes when you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. 

Reward Yourself. If you’ve had a rough week, completed one of your projects, or even just went above and beyond on a small daily task, feel free to reward yourself. Without the rewards or self-recognition, you will start feeling like a horse with a carrot on a stick—like you’re going nowhere for nothing. Rewards keep us motivated and involved in our jobs; don’t limit yourself!

Communicate with Others. This sounds silly, but when you know where everyone else on your team is in terms of accomplishing goals, you will be better able to accomplish your own. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it, or acknowledge that someone may be able to do it better than you. Through this acknowledgement you assure that you and others will be doing the jobs that are the best fit, and can feel good about it.
